The Lydian Power Transformer (PT) is more robust with less sag under load compared to the stock PT, which gives the amp a little more headroom and punch when pushed hard. The differences are slight but in my tests, they make a noticeable difference. In terms of size, the transformers are roughly the same size as the original. This transformer comes with quick connect tabs like the original with the exception of the heater taps. In the pictures above, you’ll see that the heater wires are the proper length to get to the main board with your own quick connects on the end of the wires.

The Output Transformer (OT) provides a clearer tone and more detail in the entire frequency spectrum. This OT is essentially a plexi spec’d transformer in a JCM2000 form factor and definitely gets rids of the mushyness of the original OT. This is a very nice upgrade to the stock transformer. In terms of size, the transformers are a hair larger than the the original. I have a 50w and 100w version of this OT available and they come with flying leads to connect to your amp.

Before/After Clips: The EQ settings on the amp are exaggerated, in an effort to try and bring out the most of the differences with the new transformers. I tried to replicate the EQ and guitar volume settings and mic placement as closely as possible in all the clips. Make sure that you listen on high quality speakers/headphones. Computer speakers won’t cut it.
